The usual fix for issues like this is a servicing, replacing any damaged parts. From Omega, the cost of servicing a Speedy Pro is 0 (plus the cost of any replacement parts). An independent watchmaker may charge less, but any watchmaker with an Omega parts account is not going to be cheap, as Omega makes it expensive to have a parts account.
I wind my speedmaster when I wear it, which is most days. That being said, it can go a week off the wrist every now and then. I wind it until it won't wind anymore. I recently got a new from AD Omega Moonwatch with the 3861 movement. I have other manual watches, and they all have an obvious stop when they are fully wound, but I can wind the Speedy at least 120 turns without a stop.
If you have enough reserve (you should confirm that first) this should not happen, and I would take it in for service, and they'll fix it as others have confirmed. As for winding, easy - if the reserve is depleted and watch is not running, just turn the crown until it stops. Since the clocks went back in the UK at the end of October, I've noticed on a couple of occasions now that the watch is running a couple of minutes slow - naturally, the first time I assumed I'd set it incorrectly. I am looking at a new Speedmaster Pro Sapphire Sandwich. My question for those who know concerns the second hand. I like to keep it moving all day, thus activating the stop chronograph. Does this hurt the watch, cause long term damage or make the watch loose time during the day? The hack lever issue is worth a try with a halted 289X movement. If it works and it does restart with a few tries of engage/disengage, then you have a diagnosis. You still have to go in and replace the hack lever because the watch will continue to stop at random, but you at least know what the problem is.
